Wendy is a native of Gastonia,
NC, where she began horseback riding and fox hunting
at the age of eight. She developed her love for art
and animals very early while growing up in an artistic
family with an older sister as a riding instructor.
Wendy graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in ceramics,
and jewelry fabrication. After several years away from
horses and art, she renewed her passion for both and
married a professional fox hunter. Shortly after that
she began to paint from the inspiration of their horses,
fox hounds and many Jack Russell terriers, "Somehow,
I needed to express my love for these animals...it
just came out in the form of painting."
She and her husband live in the heart of a quail plantation
near Boston, GA. Surrounded by miles of woods and a huge
assortment of wildlife, she is blessed with a never ending
source of subjects.
Wendy's animal portraits and wildlife paintings are done
in watercolor, acrylics and pencil. Other mediums are used
to to create ceramic tiles, dinnerware, signs, painted furniture,
and murals.
Her work is shown each year at the Plantation Wildlife
Arts Fair, in nearby Thomasville, GA. This juried exhibition
showcases the wildlife art of over forty artists from
around the world. Wendy's works are also featured in
the "Wild Wings", "Eximious
of London", and "Stafford's" catalogs. She
is also profiled in the "Wildlife Art" Magazine.
